Smith College

Code Girls

Code Girls- In 1942 the US Navy sent secret invitations to female students at Smith College (an all female college), looking for women who could work as cryptographers during the war. They had to be single and good at puzzles.
They built a decoding machine called Bombe and also cracked codes by hand.
